The 3D3 Centre for Doctoral Training is a partnership between Falmouth University, the ²ÝùÊÓƵ and the University of the West of England, Bristol (UWE Bristol), funded by the . 

These three universities are committed to fostering innovation through practice-led research in the creative and performing arts, especially the interrelated fields of digital design, digital media and digital arts (including music and performance).

²ÝùÊÓƵ's doctoral students are based at the ²ÝùÊÓƵ, with a dedicated supervisory team, but will work collaboratively across all three institutions and benefit from their combined expertise.

For the 2016/17 3D3 doctoral studentship competition, the ²ÝùÊÓƵ invites applications to undertake practice-led research that focuses on any area of digital arts, design, media and/or performance.

Your Director of Studies may be based on any of the research groups in the Schools of Art & Media, Humanities & Performing Arts, or Architecture, Design & Environment. However, we particularly encourage applications to one of the following four research units at ²ÝùÊÓƵ: i-DAT, ICCMR, P.E.P and Transtechnology Research.

i-DAT 

i-DAT is an Open Research Lab for playful experimentation with creative technology. i-DAT's main focus is on making 'data' tangible and readily available as a material, to generate new meaning and inform participation, audience engagement and innovation in the arts.

i-DAT is interested in receiving PhD proposals that include an element of research or work placement with Fulldome UK or IBM Smarter Planet.

ICCMR

The Interdisciplinary Centre for Computer Music Research (ICCMR) is devoted to developing musical research at the crossroads of art and science. Our students have the opportunity to harness their musical practice through collaborative and interdisciplinary projects with theatre, dance and cognitive sciences.

ICCMR is based at The House, a purpose-built Performance Arts Centre that opened in 2014, and is affiliated to the Centre for Research in the Humanities, Music and Performing Arts (HuMPA).

3D3 masters studentships at ²ÝùÊÓƵ

Applications are invited for a research masters studentship to undertake a ResM or MRes programme that includes a practice-led individual research project in the digital arts, design, media and/or performance.
